Barbara Black, professor of English and Tisch Chair in Arts and Letters, co-organized 鈥,鈥 a Mellon-funded conference on Walter Pater at Cornell University Sept. 5-7. The event, held by the International Walter Pater Society and supported by the Central New York Humanities Corridor, drew scholars from 10 countries and was a collaboration among 小蓝视频, Cornell University, and Le Moyne College.
Jason Breves, professor of biology, co-authored an article with University of Hawaii collaborators in the Journal of Fish Biology titled 鈥.鈥&苍产蝉辫;
Ruben Castillo, assistant professor of art, exhibited a new print-media installation at the in New York City, Sept. 7-11. Castillo's work was represented by his gallery, Uprise Art.

Steve Ives, professor and chair of health and human physiological sciences, presented 鈥淢atched for Physical Activity: There Are Sex Differences in the Hypotensive Effects of Acute Dietary Capsaicin鈥 at the European College of Sports Sciences annual congress. Ives also gave an invited lecture at the University of Verona titled 鈥淔rom Heart to Muscle: The Impact of Sex and Dietary Capsaicin on Human Physiology.鈥&苍产蝉辫;
Dan Nathan, professor of American studies published 鈥淭alking Baseball: Reading and Listening to The Glory of Their Times (1966)鈥 in the fall edition of NINE: A Journal of Baseball History and Culture. Nathan also moderated a about the Negro Leagues.
Jay Rogoff, research associate in English, has been named Saratoga Springs poet laureate for 2026鈥27. His recent books include "Loving in Truth: New and Selected Poems" and "Becoming Poetry: Poets and Their Methods," both from LSU Press.
Jess Somerville-Braun, assistant professor and associate chair in education studies, co-authored 鈥溾 in Anthropology and Education Quarterly. The study explores the experiences of multilingual paraprofessionals of color in a Grow Your Own program in Mid-Southern suburban-rural districts.
Lacey Walsh, head coach of women鈥檚 soccer, won the 100th game of her coaching career on Wednesday, Sept. 10, when Skidmore defeated Plattsburgh, 3-1. She is the second coach in program history to reach the 100-win plateau.
Juliane Wuensch, assistant professor of German, will give a guest lecture hosted by the The Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Dessy Roffman Myth Collaborative from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 10. The lecture, 鈥,鈥 will be available on Zoom with advance registration.
