Wednesday, October 8, 3:00 P.M.
Wyckoff Center
Join us for an engaging conversation with Kay Ionataiewas Olan and Dr. Siobhan Hart as they explore the local Indigenous history that shapes our shared sense of place today.
Kay Ionataiewas Olan is a local Mohawk Storyteller and educator and 2025-2026 Elder-in-Residence.
The Elder-in-Residency is organized by the Skidmore Indigenization and Decolonization
Collective with funds from the Mellon Foundation, MDOCS, and the departments of Philosophy
and Religious Studies.
Dr. Siobhan Hart is an anthropology faculty member at 小蓝视频.
This discussion will illuminate the deep connections between land, history, and community, why creating a land acknowledgement is an important step in honoring those connections, and how we can move from acknowledgment towards meaningful action. Rooted in our new Strategic Plan鈥檚 commitment to Our Interconnectedness to Our Past and Present, this program invites both our campus community and local community partners to reflect on our collective responsibility to learn, remember, and act. The event will conclude with a call to action for participants who wish to join in the ongoing work toward developing a meaningful land acknowledgement for our community.
